The oil crisis shook and unsettled the world, the Asian textile and clothing industry started taking up a prominent position, and the ‘made in France’ production was struggling to keep-up despite its renowned quality. Moreover, the French carpet and blanket industry (the ‘MFTC’: Manufacture française de tapis et de couverture) was falling apart due to constant restructurings and the uproar of the trade unions….times were hard.

The new owner, the Williot (Conforama) group, was forced to reduce its activities in France, and ,therefore, BÉLIER LAINÉ was first sold to the BRICQ textile group, and then to the TOISON D’OR specialist who owned it up to 2005.
